Word of God convicts sinful hearts!

By: Shaila T | April 04, 2017 God uses our conscience which is an independent witness within us to say whether we are wrong or right, through our conscience he will help us to flee from sins. Conscience is like a judge within us as it passes judgment on our thoughts, plans, actions, conduct, and attitudes. We must be sensitive to our inner voice which is our conscience and obey our righteous instinct not to do wrong because it represents the voice of truth. Many psychiatrists and psychologists will say to ignore our conscience. But this is wrong. Professor John Murray says that a man's conscience is the evidence of our indestructible moral nature and proof of the fact that God bears witness to himself in our hearts. Our conscience is nothing but the indwelling of the Holy Spirit which is Jesus itself who is our guide and comforter when we need him. He is our God in our hearts rebuking us and chastens us when we do wrong. When Jesus ascended into heaven, He made possible our Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to indwell those who trust Him. Paul wrote, “’For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christ. (1Corinthians 2:16) We have the mind of Christ because the Holy Spirit indwells us. Our conscience is a little voice that continually convicts us, comforts us and brings truths to our mind to remind us of how to live for God. God has PROMISED to bear witness with our spirit if we are indeed His Children. In conscience we have the Spirit of God guiding us as we read the Scriptures. In Genesis when Adam and Eve sinned, they realised they were naked .They were shamed and were scared, it was the response of their conscience when they sin against God. Always true Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. Hence we must always walk in Godly directions by keeping our conscience pure.
